Still House

01 / Overview

The Vision

A residential interiors film built on stillness. Rooms are held long enough to feel empty, and a single resident moves through the frame as scale rather than as subject.

02 / The Challenge

The Hurdle

Interiors footage defaults to the walkthrough — every room, every angle. That reads as an inventory and invites the viewer to count rooms rather than feel them.

03 / The Outcome

The Impact

Architectural editorial rather than a property listing. The house is remembered as quiet, which is the hardest quality to photograph and the one that carries the most value.

05 / The Creative Decision

The Decision

We cut for stillness instead of coverage.

Rooms are held long enough to read as empty. The resident enters and crosses the frame but is never the subject — she is scale, and evidence that the house is lived in. Light does the moving: the arch, the sheer curtain, the balcony door.

The hardest decision was subtraction. Roughly half the covered rooms were cut, because a house that shows you everything stops feeling like it has anything left to find.

06 / Why It Mattered

Why It Mattered

A space is judged as considered or not within seconds of being seen, and that judgement sets what everything attached to it is assumed to be worth — the residence, and the practice behind it. Thirty-one seconds of restraint places both in a bracket a full walkthrough argues them out of.
