The Vision
A spoken teaching rebuilt for silent viewing. Captions carry the argument, the speaker holds the centre, and cutaways give a body to ideas that have none.
The Hurdle
Philosophy resists pictures. Attachment, wanting and misery have no face, and anything too literal turns a teaching into a cartoon.
The Impact
A three-minute argument that holds without audio, reading as clearly muted as it does aloud.

The Decision
We treated the caption as the primary image.
Type is set large enough to take in at a glance and cut one phrase at a time, so the argument advances at the speed a thumb moves rather than the speed a sentence is spoken. The speaker holds the centre and stays still. Everything that changes, changes around him.
Where an idea had no body, we gave it one — a doctor, a family on a sofa, a figure in flames. Not illustration for its own sake. The picture is there so the sentence lands before it has finished.
Why It Mattered
A teaching only travels if it survives the conditions it is watched in. Most of this audience meets the idea in public, one-handed, with the sound off. An edit that assumes headphones reaches the people who had already agreed to listen. This one was built for the people who had not.
